Master Rohan and Master Arun star in ‘Summer Holidays’, which finally hit theatres today after several delays. Let’s see how it fares.
Summer Holidays Story: Ravuri Venkateswara Rao (Arun), also called RV, loves cricket and spending time with his friends. However, his father (Harsha Vardhan) believes that studies are the only way to build a good future. He promises to buy RV a cricket kit and enroll him in a cricket academy if he secures the first rank in class. But RV gets the tenth rank, disappointing his father.
Unable to see her son suffer, his mother takes him to her native village during the summer holidays. There, RV meets Kashi Venkateswarlu (Rohan), who works in a mango orchard. Who is KV? What is his past? How does he change RV’s life? The rest of the story answers these questions.
Performances: Rohan and Arun impress with their performances. Arun fits well in his role, while Rohan shines with his energy, comedy timing and emotional scenes. Khushi has a brief role, and Vasuki, Jayasudha, Harsha Vardhan and Rajeev Kanakala deliver decent performances.
Technical Aspects: ‘Summer Holidays’ offers a nostalgic village experience with relatable emotions. Director Srikar impresses with beautiful moments, effective dialogues and Godavari slang. Sinjith’s music is another major plus. However, the climax lacks impact, and a few scenes have logical flaws. The crisp two hour runtime works in its favour.
Analysis: ‘Summer Holidays’ offers a beautiful, nostalgic experience for two hours without any unnecessary drama or hype.
Verdict: ‘Summer Holidays’ is a feel-good family entertainer that blends childhood memories, village nostalgia and relatable emotions, making it a pleasant watch despite a few flaws.
Bottom Line: Summer Memories on Screen.
Rating : 2.75/5
